Just because your books are balanced doesn't mean they're right.
I've spent the better part of 40 years in corporate accounting, so I understand how all the pieces of your financial records fit together. I'll go beyond simply categorizing transactions and balancing accounts to help ensure your books are accurate, reconciled, and properly supported.
I'll also help you understand what the numbers mean—how your business performed during the period, what drove the results, and how you can use that information to make better-informed decisions going forward.
And when it's time to prepare your tax returns, your tax professional will have organized, well-supported financial records to work from, helping ensure that your business activity is properly reflected in your return. -
Absolutely. I consider both myself and your tax professional important parts of your financial team. As such, I want to have a good working relationship with them.
I will coordinate with them as needed, and want to provide the records and support they need rather than dump a year-end mess in their lap. -
Though I haven’t built my business around tax services, I am always reaching out to other accounting and financial professionals to continue to expand my referral network.
Should you need one, I will be happy to connect you to one in my referral network/ -
The practice of hourly billing has traditionally been the standard method when providing professional services.
I feel that, especially for ongoing services such as monthly bookkeeping, hourly billing is an archaic method of pricing so I embrace a flat fee pricing structure.
The biggest issue I have is that you as the client will not have an idea how much the job will be on any given month until the bill is received. I do not believe that is fair to you since unpredictable costs make cash flow forecasting more difficult for you.
I also consider it a conflict of interest of sorts because one of the things it means is that I am rewarded for the level of inefficiency I may have. Hourly billing on a monthly basis does not provide an emphasis of customer service or an incentive to complete jobs efficiently.
I also want you to feel like you can reach out and contact me without feeling like you’re “on the clock.” -
I am certified in both Quickbooks Online and Xero but I am willing to work with whatever software you want.because I have found over the years in my career in accounting that accounting principles have stayed consistent. Because of this, while the mechanics and workflows may vary from one accounting system to another, I’ve always found I am able to easily transition from one to another so using your preferred software shold not prove to be an issue for me.
Though I do have my own preferences, unless there is a compelling reason to do so, I will not ask you to change the way you do business just because I may be familiar with another platform.
